More Adult Learners Enrolled at Community Colleges
3/30/2009

A March 25, 2009 Reuters article reports that community colleges across the nation are seeing an increase in the number of adult learners who are seeking to change careers as a result of the weak economy. As more industries face layoffs, impacted workers are turning to education as a means of making themselves more marketable. Community colleges provide options that may be less expensive and more accessible than four-year universities. Based on figures from the American Association of Community Colleges, enrollment at community colleges has increased between 5% and 26% during the past six months.

The article is available at the Reuters Web site.
