Many Schools Plan to Participate in National Green Week
1/27/2009

A January 26, 2009 USA Today article reports that approximately 700 elementary and secondary schools across the country plan to participate in the first National Green Week, which begins on Monday, February 2, 2009. Students at many of the participating schools will opt for reusable snack containers (rather than disposable ones), in an effort to reduce waste. While some critics of the environmental campaign fear schools may be overstepping their boundaries by trying to influence the choices that families make, others believe the exercise is an opportunity to help students learn how to balance their individual freedoms with what will benefit society as whole.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
