A December 23, 2008 USA Today article reports that Central Connecticut State University (New Britain, Connecticut) has released the results of its annual study regarding the nation's most literate cities (including cities with populations of 250,000 or more). Based on an examination of "culture and resources for reading" (which include key literacy indicators such as newspaper circulation, number of bookstores, library resources, periodical publishing resources, educational attainment and Internet resources), Seattle, Washington and Minneapolis, Minnesota have been identified as the most literate cities in the country.
