Arne Duncan Nominated as Next U.S. Secretary of Education

A December 16, 2008 USA Today article reports that President-elect Barack Obama has nominated Chicago Public Schools (CPS) chief executive officer Arne Duncan as the next U.S. Secretary of Education. Mr. Duncan, who has worked for CPS since 1998, was named chief executive officer in 2001.

Current U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings applauds the nomination in a December 16th press release from the U.S. Department of Education.
