Some Community Colleges Waiving Tuition for Local Unemployed
12/5/2008

According to a December 5, 2008 Inside Higher Ed article, some community colleges throughout the country are seeking to assist their communities by waiving tuition (all, or a portion) for local residents who are unemployed. The details of the waivers vary, depending on the college. Some community colleges offer the waivers to those who are jobless due to the closing of an area employer, and some work with their state's Department of Labor to help identify those who are qualified to receive a waiver. Each college that offers such waivers determines the limit regarding for how many credits and/or terms the waiver can be used.

The article is available at the Inside Higher Ed Web site.
