2009-10 FAFSA Will Be Available on January 1st
12/2/2008

A November 29, 2008 article from The Wall Street Journal reminds families that the 2009-10 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available to complete and submit on January 1, 2009. Families with students planning to attend college during the 2009-10 academic year are encouraged to submit the FAFSA as soon after January 1st as possible. The article indicates that, although legislation was recently passed by Congress to simplify the federal aid form, those changes will not yet be in effect for 2009-10 processing. Families are reminded to beware of organizations that charge a fee for assistance in completing the FAFSA, because similar help can be obtained at no charge from college financial aid offices and Federal Student Aid.

The article is available at the Web site of The Wall Street Journal.
