Young Students Learn How to Cast a Ballot
10/29/2008

Students at Springfield's (Illinois) Grant Middle School voted in a mock election on Tuesday, after spending the past two months learning about America's election process. According to Grant's history teacher, Layne Zimmers, because "voting is not just a duty, but a privilege," students' time as the school's polling locations "was a real-life lesson."

Students were required to register to vote for their choices in the presidential and congressional races, and designed and displayed positive-only campaign posters.

Results will be compiled by the math department and available sometime on Wednesday.

To learn more about Grant's voting project, read the article available on the State Journal-Register's Web site.
