An October 15, 2008 press release from the Office of the Governor announces the first Civil Engineer Scholarship Program from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Scholarships of up to $7,000 per academic year will be awarded to selected students pursuing a civil engineering education. The new program was designed, in part, as a response to the record number of civil engineers who are anticipated to retire over the next few years.
The Civil Engineer Scholarship Program application deadline is November 26, 2008 for the spring 2009 semester.
