An October 11, 2008 USA Today article reports that, across the nation, colleges are finding it necessary to reduce spending in order to adjust to the current economy. As is the case with many families, several colleges are deciding to put some projects temporarily on hold, until their financial situation improves. Institutions of higher education are facing the potential for reductions in three major areas: government funding, donations, and tuition. Realizing that students and their families are impacted by the same economy, college administrators are doing what they can to increase the level of available institutional financial assistance.
