Sleep Patterns Impact College Students' Academic Performance
6/10/2008

A June 9, 2008 article from U.S. News & World Report indicates that, based on current research, college students who are early risers are likely to get better grades than late sleepers. Findings are based on a survey of 824 college students. The article suggests steps for students who may not be natural "morning people," such as establishing consistent sleep patterns during the summer months, practicing getting up earlier a few weeks before classes resume in the fall, planning realistic class schedules, and making adjustments to compensate for early classes (for example, get to bed earlier and study in the afternoon).

The article is available at the U.S. News & World Report Web site.
