According to a May 31, 2008 article from The New York Times, college students graduating with the class of 2008 will encounter some bright spots, along with some challenges, as they seek employment. Because many workers from the 'baby boomer' generation are quickly approaching retirement, employers are likely to hire new college graduates to maintain their workforce. However, due to a slow economy, new graduates might not receive as many highly-lucrative offers as had been the case in recent years. In addition, employers may be more selective, choosing only the most motivated and competitive of candidates to fill limited available positions.
