According to a May 29, 2008 USA Today article, a recent study indicates that the gap in math skills between males and females is less prominent in countries where both genders have similar opportunities and rights. Although overall results show boys scoring higher than girls on the same worldwide math exam, scores are significantly closer within gender-neutral societies. The article is based on results of the Program for International Student Assessment, a worldwide test administered every three years to 15-year-old students.
