Federal Formula to Calculate States' Graduation and Dropout Rates

An April 1, 2008 article from The New York Times discusses U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings' announcement that all states will eventually be required to use the same federal formula when calculating graduation and dropout rates. The announcement took place on Tuesday, April 1st, at a summit organized to address dropout prevention. Before any new regulations are finalized, a public comment period will take place.
