Survey Indicates Hazing Still Exists Among College Students
3/12/2008

A March 11, 2008 article from The Associated Press indicates that, at colleges across the country, students still engage in hazing practices. Although the vast majority of colleges ban hazing, some students continue to see it as a way of initiating those who are new to a group. Based on recent survey results, approximately half of the students who participate in campus organizations have experienced some form of hazing. While the highest rates of hazing were reported among athletic teams, sororities and fraternities, a significant amount of hazing also appears to be occurring within club sports and performing arts organizations. Included with the article is a chart that outlines the frequency of different hazing activities, as well as which groups are most likely to participate.

The article is available at the MSNBC Web site.
