Independent Learners Benefiting from Open Courseware
2/27/2008

According to a February 26, 2008 USA Today article, independent learners are accessing free online "open courseware" materials in order to brush up on skills or simply learn new information. The list of colleges and universities that are providing free course materials online has steadily increased, and those who are interested can currently obtain information from approximately 5,000 courses at over 150 colleges worldwide. While individuals who utilize open courseware do not receive college credits, they are able to access a wealth of information, free of charge.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
