GI Bill Benefits Not Enough to Cover College Costs for Many Veterans
2/12/2008

According to a February 10, 2008 article from The Boston Globe, U.S. veterans today are finding that GI Bill benefits do not go as far as they may have for veterans in previous decades. Prior to the 1980s, the GI Bill covered full tuition, housing and living costs. The maximum benefit a veteran can currently receive under the GI Bill is $9,600 per year, regardless of the college's cost of attendance. There are movements in both Congress and the private sector to provide more benefits to veterans, whether through changes in the GI Bill or other sources.

The article is available at the Web site of The Boston Globe.
