According to a January 31, 2008 press release, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Northern Illinois University (NIU) have named 1,177 schools to the 2007 Illinois Honor Roll. Schools named to the Illinois Honor Roll are recognized for their efforts in seeking, achieving and/or maintaining academic excellence.
