The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently announced the awarding of fast growth grants in the amount of $7.5 million to 43 Illinois school districts. The purpose of the grants is to assist school districts with fast-growing student populations in meeting the challenges of ensuring there is adequate staff, supplies and materials for the students.
According to the ISBE Press Release announcing the grants, Illinois public school enrollment has increased by 6.4% in the last decade, with a total enrollment of 2,077,856 in 2007.
