According to a January 3, 2008 article from Inside Higher Ed, some companies are banking on a projected growth in the popularity of electronic college textbooks. Some have been surprised by the fact that, to this point, there has not been a strong demand for digital course materials. As college costs - including textbooks - continue to rise, students now may be more willing to change their study habits and access information electronically, rather than in printed format. While not a huge industry right now, experts predict that electronic books could see marked growth in the future.
