Experts Examine Benefits of Pre-School Programs
12/27/2007

A December 23, 2007 USA Today article reports that, across the country, more emphasis is being placed on pre-school programs. Tax dollars are increasingly being ear-marked to develop or improve programs for 3- and 4-year-olds, in an effort to better prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Advocates of these programs indicate that any student who has a positive pre-school experience is more likely to graduate from high school and become a productive citizen. Critics, however, argue that limited dollars should be focused on pre-school programs for students from low-income families, rather than the general population.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
