According to a November 1, 2007 article from The Associated Press, an increasing number of schools across the country are including students in parent-teacher conferences. Teachers find that parents are more likely to attend the meetings when their children are also present. In addition, students seem to benefit from participating in the goal-setting process during the conferences. Other practices some schools have initiated to encourage parents to attend the meetings include providing baby-sitting and making translators available.
