According to an October 30, 2007 article from The Associated Press, some high schools across the country are opening coffee shops in their libraries. While health experts are concerned that the caffeinated, high-calorie drinks being sold are not healthy, school administrators contend that the coffee shops make students more likely to spend time reading in the library. Some students state that they are reading more, but others indicate that the coffee drinkers spend most of their time socializing, which makes the library noisy and difficult to study.
