An October 17, 2007 Inside Higher Ed article reports that, according to a recent study from the Community College Research Center, high school students who participate in dual enrollment programs (i.e., taking high school and college courses at the same time) can realize both short- and long-term benefits. Among the stated benefits are improved high school graduation rates, an increased likelihood to enroll in college, higher college grade point averages, and a greater chance of completing college. The study found that, in addition to high-achievers, students with average grade point averages and those planning to pursue technical careers also benefit from dual enrollment.
