According to an October 2, 2007 USA Today article, a national program to retrain retirees is being developed by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). A grant from The Atlantic Philanthropies will allow the AACC to design programs to assist adults (aged 50 and older) in learning new skills to help them re-enter the workforce or serve as volunteers. During its initial stages, the AACC program will include 15 community colleges, 5 of which will be named mentor institutions.
