Families Spend Large Amounts to Enhance Students' College Admission Chances
9/20/2007

A September 19, 2007 Money Magazine article discusses the large amounts of money some families spend in an attempt to make students more marketable to elite colleges. Whether paying for private tutoring, college entrance exam preparation, or travel and/or enrichment activities designed to enhance a résumé, some families are spending thousands of dollars to try and increase students' chances of being admitted to their college(s) of choice. The article points out that, while selectively choosing certain options may enhance a student's chances, investing money in these activities is no guarantee of admission. Tips are provided to help families make decisions that will best fit their needs.

The article is available at the CNN/Money Web site.
