A September 17, 2007 USA Today article reports that, according to the results of a recent survey, over half of high school students surveyed were not familiar with Constitution Day. Established by Congress in 2004 and taking place each year on or around September 17th, the Constitution Day law requires all schools and colleges that receive federal funding to teach about the U.S. Constitution. Some experts have expressed concern that today's students lack an understanding of the Constitution, which is the primary document governing democracy in America.
The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
