According to an August 27, 2007 article from The Associated Press, veterans who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq are emerging as campus leaders at colleges across the country. In addition to high levels of maturity and well-developed organization skills, these individuals can offer a unique perspective to classroom discussions. While it is impossible to determine the exact number of veterans currently enrolled in college, the Veterans Administration indicates that approximately 250,000 are utilizing educational benefits via the GI Bill. College administrators also report increased participation in veterans organizations on campus.
