Finding Balance Between Work and Play for Preschoolers
8/9/2007

An August 6, 2007 article from MSNBC explores whether preschool students are best served by academic- or play-based learning environments. Because kindergarten curriculums are increasingly focused on academics, preschool teachers and administrators are feeling more pressure to make sure their students are prepared for that next step. Research, however, suggests that students whose studies are overly structured in preschool may burn out and achieve less in elementary school and beyond. Many experts advocate combining teaching and fun with preschoolers, so that they view the learning process as fun and enjoyable.

The article is available at the MSNBC Web site.
