A July 18, 2007 article from The New York Times reports that the College Board is requiring all syllabuses for high school Advanced Placement courses to undergo an audit review. Only classes that are in subjects for which Advanced Placement exams are offered, and that pass the College Board review, can be designated as "Advanced Placement." Currently, there are 37 subjects for which Advanced Placement exams are offered. However, in recent years, some high schools have started calling any high-level class an Advanced Placement course, which can make the transcript review process more difficult for college admissions staff.
