Schools Not Meeting NCLB Standards May Need to Restructure
6/22/2007

According to a June 20, 2007 article from The Associated Press, over 2,000 schools across the country are in the process of restructuring, or preparing to restructure next year. As part of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law, schools that are unable to meet the law's requirements must take specific steps, such as offering tutoring to students, to try and improve student performance. If sufficient improvement is not made within six years, then the school must restructure. The restructuring process can include firing principals and moving teachers. The article highlights some schools that have undergone restructuring.

The article is available at the CNN.com Web site.
