According to a May 2, 2007 press release from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings has named 141 outstanding high school seniors as 2007 Presidential Scholars. Six students from Illinois are included, being named either Presidential Scholars or Presidential Scholars in the Arts. This year's Presidential Scholars will be honored June 23 - 27 in Washington, D.C.
