Safety Education Officers Trained as Multi-Hazard Instructors for Illinois School Districts
4/20/2007

An April 18, 2007 press release announces that the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the Illinois State Police (ISP) and the Illinois Terrorism Task Force are working together to train all ISP Safety Education Officers (SEO's) as multi-hazard instructors for local school districts. The effort, aimed at further enhancing school security, is made possible through a grant funded by the Illinois Terrorism Task Force. Once trained, SEO's will be able to provide school districts with instruction and technical assistance in developing effective emergency operation plans for a wide variety of potential critical incidents (e.g., severe weather, terrorism threats or other possible dangers).

The press release is available at the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Web site.
