An April 5, 2007 article from The Washington Post reports on a recent study from the U.S. Department of Education regarding the benefits of educational software in the classroom. Based on results of the study, student performance is not significantly impacted by the use of educational technology. Representatives of the educational software industry suggested that the study's results may indicate a lack of sufficient training for teachers using the technology in their classrooms. The software will only be effective, they argue, if educators understand how it can best be incorporated into the curriculum. Others expressed concern that the results of this study may discourage some schools from utilizing technology as an educational resource.
