Dream to Reality
To help middle school students (6th through 8th graders) gain an awareness of college and career opportunities, the Illinois Student Assistance Commission has developed an early awareness activity packet, called Dream to Reality, geared specifically for their age group.  The goal of this program is to encourage students to dream about a career that they are interested in and then learn the steps to help their dream become a reality.  This activity packet can be used at school or made available for students to use at home.

The early awareness program will help students:

  • explore their interests, talents, and abilities, and identify potential careers that would match those attributes;
  • set future academic and career goals;
  • determine the steps necessary to meet their goals;
  • focus on preparing for a specific career choice; and
  • learn a variety of ways to finance the education necessary to achieve their goal.

Parents will also participate by:

  • learning the many ways they can assist their children in setting future academic and career goals; and
  • determining the steps necessary to financially prepare for their children’s college education, including gathering information on ISAC’s 529 Prepaid Tuition Program – College Illinois!®

This kit can either be viewed online or printed and duplicated for your student’s use.
