If you are a student planning to pursue a degree in education, a valuable resource for you is the Teaching area within the Student Zone at collegezone.com. You'll find links to:
- information on gift assistance programs that are designed for students who plan to teach in Illinois;
- resources regarding loan repayment/cancellation programs that are available for teachers;
- 2009-10 applications for the teacher programs administered by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC); and
- details about teacher preparation and certification in Illinois.
By following the links provided in the Teaching area's "State of Illinois/ISAC Programs" section, you can learn about the Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC), Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship, Illinois Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver (SETTW) and Nurse Educator Scholarship (for graduate-level students) programs, as well as access the applications.
As a reminder, and for those who might be new to the process, only applicants with a valid digital ID from the State of Illinois will be able to access the online application for the IFTC and MTI Scholarship programs. Applicants who obtained a digital ID for a previous year's teacher program application process will use that same digital ID this year.
