Once the loan request has been certified by the school using whatever electronic method the school has chosen, the request is then forwarded to either the lender or the guarantor depending on the processing flow the school has chosen to follow.
When using the lender flow the initial certification request is sent from the school directly to the lender. The lender then verifies that the signed Promissory Note is on file and submits the loan request to the guarantor for guarantee. The guarantor processes the loan request and issues the guarantee to the lender. The loan is then ready for disbursement.
When using the guarantor flow the initial certification request is sent from the school directly to the guarantor. The guarantor processes the loan request, issues the guarantee and forwards the data to the lender. The lender then verifies that the signed Promissory Note is on file. The loan is then ready for disbursement.
When using the Blanket Certificate of Loan Guaranty, or blanket guaranty, the lender has executed an agreement with the guarantor that authorizes the lender to originate a loan with a certification received directly from the school. The school and lender work together to ensure the loan is originated properly, including a signed Promissory Note on file, and the lender reports the loan origination to the guarantor after the fact.
