NESP Application Procedures
ISAC Rules, Part 2759.30

All applicants must complete the Nurse Educator Scholarship Program (NESP) Application. A complete application must be received by ISAC postmarked on or before March 1 immediately proceeding the academic year for which the scholarship will be used, in order to receive priority consideration. Applications that are postmarked after March 1 will be given consideration for the award if, after the initial round of awarding, funding remains available.

Section A – Applicant Information

All applicants should review the eligibility requirements and terms and conditions of the scholarship before the Applicant Information section (section A) is completed. An applicant must sign and date the certification statement agreeing to the terms and conditions included in the Teaching Agreement/Promissory Note.

Section B – College Certification

The applicant must complete a Free Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the college completing Section B – College Certification. The college must provide the applicant’s cumulative grade point average (GPA) and expected family contribution (EFC), certify that the applicant meets the eligibility requirements of the program, and sign and date the certification statement. When reporting the EFC, use only the whole dollar amount from the SAR/ISIR.

The application serves as a promissory note and requires an original signature, therefore faxes are not accepted. Mail completed application/promissory notes to:

Nurse Educator Scholarship Program Processing, D-1B
Illinois Student Assistance Commission
1755 Lake Cook Road
Deerfield, IL  60015-5209

If the student section is incomplete, a Notice of Incomplete Application will be sent to the applicant to request the missing information. Processing cannot take place prior to the date a complete application is received in ISAC's Deerfield office. Completed applications are reviewed in the order they are received. In the event funds are insufficient to make awards to all qualified applicants, ISAC will make award determination on the basis of the dates that the completed applications are received.
