ISAC Rules, Part 2734.20
Identify MAP Plus Eligible Students in MAPnet
Colleges that are approved to participate in the Monetary Award Program (MAP) are also approved to participate in the MAP Plus Program. Institutional Eligibility rules that apply to the MAP grant also apply to the MAP Plus Program.
To qualify for the MAP Plus program a student must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
- Be an Illinois resident (If a dependent, the parent whose information is used on the FAFSA must be an Illinois resident);
- Not be the recipient of a MAP grant for any term during the regular school year for which you receive MAP Plus;
- Be a member of a family with an adjusted gross income (AGI) of less than $200,000, as listed on the FAFSA, for the applicable tax year;
- Be enrolled as sophomore, junior or senior, as certified by the school, at least half time at a MAP-approved Illinois college, in a degree or certificate program;
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the school; and
- Not be in default on any student loan, nor owe a refund on any state or federal grant. If the student is in default, MAP Plus eligibility can be re-established by:
- Repaying the debt in full;
- Making satisfactory payment arrangements with the holder of the loan(s);
- Rehabilitation of the defaulted loan(s); or
- Making payments on the defaulted loan(s) to make it eligible for consolidation.
- Not have received a bachelor's degree;
- Comply with federal Selective Service registration requirements; and
- Not be incarcerated.
Note: If a student received the maximum MAP paid credits hours, the student would be eligible for MAP Plus, providing all other eligibility requirements are met.
