State Scholar Mailing Labels
The last day to appeal a student's status as a 2009-10 State Scholar Finalist is January 30, 2009. Orders for a set of mailing labels of State Scholar Finalists can now be submitted but will not be processed until after the appeal deadline. Orders for labels must be received at ISAC on or before March 31, 2009.
As a reminder, an online listing of 2009-10 State Scholars displaying each State Scholar alphabetically by high school, within the school's Illinois county can be obtained at College Zone. The online listing replaces the paper roster that was available to order in previous years.
Announcement of Finalists
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) announced the 2009-10 State Scholars on November 26, 2008. An online listing of 2009-10 State Scholars, which replaces the Announcement Rosters for State Scholar Finalists that were mailed to high schools in previous years, displays each State Scholar alphabetically by high school, within the school's Illinois county.
Although the State Scholar Program has historically been an honorary (rather than financial) award, ISAC recognized the academic achievement of those Illinois students who have been named 2009-10 State Scholars by presenting each with a paid subscription to the online version of the Encyclopædia Britannica. A congratulatory letter, including instructions on how to access the subscription, was sent directly to each high school senior who is designated as a State Scholar for the 2009-10 academic year.
Additional details regarding the Illinois State Scholar selection process with links to the online listing of 2009-10 State Scholar finalists, a copy of the congratulatory letter, the formula, helpful reminders and a sample press release to use in announcing this year's State Scholars are available from the State Scholar Finalist page within this section.
