What's New
Below are highlights of the changes and enhancements made to the 2009-10 FAFSA and delivery process to comply with the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA). Highlights of the changes:
- FAFSA redesign
- FAFSA colors - green and purple
- Elimination of Worksheets A, B and C - data elements incorporated into application questions
- Questions added, deleted, reformatted - five additional dependency questions, TEACH question
- Instructions enhanced and incorporated into questions which reduced the number of Note pages
- Additional CPS edits, comment codes, SAR & ISIR changes and FAFSA on the Web edits to accommodate FAFSA redesign
- Special circumstances - guidance for allowing a dependent applicant to apply without parental data.
- Dependency override transactions performed by another school
- Expected Family Contribution (EFC) changes
- Report 529 college funds assets
- Revisions to the ISIR
- Incomplete web application notification process

New FAFSA Filing Option--FAFSA on the Phone The FSA launched a new initiative that offers the option for students and parents to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) over the phone. The new option will initially be made available only in Indiana, Rhode Island and West Virginia in a controlled roll-out.
