Common Record Encryption & Security
By using encryption, data can be moved through the Internet in a secured format.   This includes moving data through e-mail, file transfer protocol (FTP) or other electronic methods.

Various types of software have been developed for securing data prior to transmitting through the Internet.  NCHELP’s Electronic Standards Committee (ESC) moved to the OpenPGP – Pretty Good Privacy software from Secret Agent software in April 2003.  This is the only software that ESC supports.   However, ISAC, as well as many other industry partners still support Secret Agent along with OpenPGP.

For more information on the technical information for Common Record and transmission security, technical reference documents can be located on IFAP.
